Sample Analysis ProgramÔ

The Sample Analysis program provides a platform to investigate relationships between concentrations of difficult to measure radionuclides recorded in radiochemical sample data. Radioactive waste generators have to record the activity content of radionuclides not readily measured by gamma spectrometry. This information is necessary to classify the material for disposal. Measurements of representative samples are made by radiochemical analysis and statistical relationships are determined between the difficult to measure radionuclide and a more readily measured radionuclide. These relationships are referred to as scaling factors. Most large generators have accumulated data from a hundred or more samples each reporting 20 to 30 individual measurements. The analysis of the sample data must be updated every year with new radiochemical samples. The sample analysis program cuts quickly through the hundreds of analyses that must be performed to complete this analysis and perform the updates. This feature rich program more than pays for itself in saved manhours and more efficient sample utilization.

 Minimum Program Requirements:

PC or Compatible 386 or better processor, 8 Megabytes Available Hard Drive

Windows 3.1 or Windows 95, 8 Megabytes RAM (has been run with 4 under Windows 3.1)

Why You should Be Using the Sample Analysis Program

The program maintains an online basis for all of your scaling factor calculations. It provides a clear and consistent sanity check on values generated from your shipping program. Its faster and safer than spreadsheet methods. The program maximizes the value of your sample data and will save you money by giving you the means to extend sample frequency and reduce laboratory analytical tasks. With greater confidence in the scaling factors that you use, you can reduce reported quantities of long-lived nuclides.
