Integrated Database Manager
The database manager used by the program is based on the Borland Database Engine referred to as IDAPI (Integrated Database Application Programming Interface). the program works seamlessly with dBase and Paradox tables (both products or Borland) as well as data tables in delimited text format.. It also can be used without modification to access tables supplied through SQL servers (client/server) such as Interbase, Oracle, or Sybase. All of the data created and maintained by the program is in the form of dBase tables which can be accessed for translation, report generation, etc. outside of the program. IDAPI also includes a broad foreign language interface, which can be used to provide special character recognition and number formatting appropriate to the country of use. Included with the program is a windows dynamic link library (DB_LIB.DLL)that operates as an object oriented shell program for the IDAPI database engine. DB_LIB.DLL, written by D.W. James and Associates, manages all of the database functions through defined data table and database classes. It generates the dialogs used to display table information as well as retrieves records in response to program requirements. Detailed reports on packages or shipments cant be retrieved at any time. The program currently incorporates within the database more than 25 separate data tables. These include container and cask libraries, waste stream definitions, cask loading limits, cartridge filter descriptions, a table for defining and tracking contaminated objects, shield material definitions, as well as database tables for tracking material components, packages, and shipments. (Radioactive Package Database record. A complete record of the package characterization can be reconstructed at any time after the package is stored in the data base.)
