Characterization of Radioactive Materials

The Integrated Shipping and Inventory Program (ISIP) is used in conjunction with a Sample Analysis Program. The Sample Analysis Program maintains sample records and scaling factor correlations for determining the radioactivity inventory in a material component. The combination of sample records and correlation factors provided by the Sample Program are used directly by ISIP to construct an activity table for material components. The program by default uses a gamma spectrum in combination with correlation factors for difficult to measure radionuclides to construct an activity table. However, the user may elect to use a radiochemical analyses independent of scaling factors as well as enter scaling factors independently of the Sample Analysis Program. Each component is marked with a sample number and waste stream from which the material originated.
